Job Duties/Responsibilities:
This position is for a network engineer who will lead and participate as a member of an integrated technical team solving technical problems, providing assistance during all phases of installation, operation, and maintenance of network and end user equipment at both fixed and deployed locations. Provide overall network engineering support for a broad range of programs. Support the full system engineering life-cycle, including requirements analysis, design, development, test, and implementation. Monitors and controls the daily operation of all fixed enterprise networks. Remediate network outages or issues that could potentially lead to an outage of fixed and/or deployed network infrastructures. The position involves comprehensive network engineering knowledge and the ability to complete difficult and complex assignments. Receives assignments in the form of objectives and establishes goals to meet objectives. Work is reviewed and measured based on meeting objectives and schedules. Establish and recommends changes to policies which effect the organization and other subordinate entities.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 2+ years experience in a broad range of assignments in technical tasks directly related to the proposed area of responsibility. An additional 4 years experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.
Certifications:
Must have and maintain the CompTIA Security+ and Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certifications. TS Security Clearence.
Required Skills:
The candidate must have knowledge and experience with the installation, support, troubleshooting, and upgrading of network equipment and operating systems. Analyze and provide recommendations on network performance. Designs, configures, and maintains firewalls, access control lists, intrusion detection devices and physical security to implement customer approved network security policies. Designs, installs and manages all deployed networks (data, voice and video) supporting customer operations, using the full assortment of networking protocols (TCP/IP, OSPF, EIGRP, and static routing), virtual machine deployment/network management tools, and supporting programmatic control of network devices. Assess deployed infrastructure and test automation practices, assisting supported analysis organizations, in proposing viable technical and cost effective solutions. Installs and maintains fiber and Ethernet networks from cabling to equipment; terminates fiber and Ethernet cables using appropriate tools. Must have a solid knowledge of the administrative, system, and security features of Cisco operating environment and Integrated Services Routers and switches as well as PC based servers/workstations and current MS Windows operating system. Has a strong working knowledge in IP addressing, subnet masking, network design and architecture. Experience in TCP/IP and UDP broadcast/multicasting along with multi-threaded applications experience in a Windows environment is required. Candidate must demonstrate good speaking and writing skills and must be able to interface with a highly technical client on a daily basis. Ability to travel (up to 30 percent) supporting all JDAT deployed and fixed locations.
Desired experience/skills:
Experience with maintaining and configuring network server, switching, data storage devices. CCNP or CISSP certification. Experience working with configuration, implementation and operation of US government encryption devices and associated cryptographic materials.
