Position Overview / Job Description
We are seeking a Senior Patent Search Analyst who
will review and approve research conducted by multiple Patent Search Analysts on
patent applications submitted to the United States Patent and Trademark Office
and assess conclusions/written opinions developed to support their final
conclusions regarding unity and patentability of an invention. Senior Patent Search Analysts serves as the
Search Approving Official for ensuring all work is performed in accordance with
customer requirements and meets strict program quality/timeliness requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities may include:
- Review completed patent application cases to ensure proper classification were assigned, thorough research conducted and clear, concise conclusion were developed in accordance with customer requirements
- Assess assigned US and international classifications and ensure compliance with the rules of classifications
- Review search strategies used by Search Analysts to ensure efficient/thorough searches were conducted (in accordance with search & examination guidelines)
- Apply research and technical expertise to validate final conclusions developed by Search Analysts
- Apply technical communications/writing skills to ensure final conclusions are clear/concise and are supported by the research conducted
- Work closely with Search Analysts, support staff and other Senior Search Analysts in a collaborative team environment, providing consultation and support as needed
- Effectively manage time to meet program quality and production goals/standards
- Support the development of Search Analysts through effective mentoring and feedback to improve quality and productivity
- Conduct data analysis to identify trends for both individuals and groups to include identifying problems/quality trends and recommending timely solutions to improve quality, process and cost inefficiencies
- Provide expert guidance on a broad range of technical subjects
- Effectively coordinating with other Senior Search Analysts regarding a broad range of issues, to include but not limited to: shared classes, disputed resolution for applications, etc.
- Perform various management or supervisory duties as determined appropriated.
Education:
A Bachelors Degree or equivalent in science or engineering. Patent Agent or other Intellectual Property credentials a plus.
Experience:
- Five years prior experience with patent classification and searching. Prior USPTO Examination experience a plus.

- High Temperature Superconductors
- Control Systems
- Lighting
- Electronic circuitry and components
- Printing technology
- Power Generation, Conversion and Distribution
- Photography; Electrophotography
- Recorders
- Coded data generation or conversion
- Ability to provide mentoring and guidance to individuals, resulting in improved quality performance
- Strong decision making ability
- Strong experience with technical communications/writing
- Proven ability to learn multiple disciplines
- Ability to show a high degree of initiative, while working with limited guidance
